Set on the historic Mount Melville estate, the course opened in 1995 as St Andrews’ only championship inland course.
Set high above St Andrews, the Craigtoun Course offers a striking inland counterpoint to the traditional coastal links. Designed in 1995 by five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson and later refined by Tim Liddy, it weaves through rolling fairways, gorse, and heather, with expansive views over the town and out to sea. Both strategic and scenic, it provides a memorable test of golf that rewards patience, precision, and an appreciation of the landscape.
The course blends Scottish heritage with modern design and has hosted major amateur championships, making it a must-play destination for golfers seeking a unique challenge in the Home of Golf.
